Reading Poker Books

There are tons of different kinds of poker games out there today like Hold'em, Omaha etc. Now depending on the game you choose to play, there are different books that can help you learn it. One of the most popular poker games today, if not the most popular is Texas Hold'em. You play against other players at a poker table and everyone gets two cards and the point of the game is to win everyone else's chips.
This is a game that a lot of people have become so successful at that it has become a career for them. Since the idea of the game is to play against other players, and it's mostly about your skills to bluff and read the other players... you can definitely learn to play the game so successfully that it's not about gambling anymore.
Therefore it is considered wise to learn about the game and all its strategies by reading some good poker books written by successful players that have made a killing playing the game. But in order to do this you first have to find the right poker books. When there are hundreds of books to choose from, you obviously don't want to waste your time reading the ones that don't teach you the best strategies and tricks. So in order to find the best ones I suggest you find a good site reviewing the top poker books out there... and then according to their reviews you can make your decision.
Of course there are poker books that are written for different levels of experience too. If you're a total beginner in poker, I'd suggest you look for a book that is written for complete beginners. This means a book that explains everything from how the game works to some of the basic tactics and strategies that you can use and also that other people use so that you can read them better in the game. Then again if you already know the game and have played it a few times but you'd like to play more seriously and learn some of the more advanced tricks then I suggest you read a book which is written for more advanced players. If you find a good review I'm certain that they will list both books for beginners and more advanced players.
Another good thing to look for in a poker book is the author. Is he a famous poker player that has made a killing playing poker? Because if he is, you can be almost certain that he has some great experiences to share with you that can truly help you move forward in the game. Some of the most successful poker players nowadays are David Sklansky and Doyle Brunson. You might even have heard of them since they are some of the most respected and popular poker players out there.
So to summarize what I just told you:
1. before you start playing poker for real; at least learn some basics by reading a few great poker books.
2. Find one which fits your level of skills and experience in the game.
3. Read the books and remember to go out and practice what you've learned because that's the only way you will truly become successful at playing poker.
To make it easier for you, I have added a link to a website reviewing some of the best poker books out there for both beginners and advanced players.
