Increase Your CityVille Population

How many times have you tried to expand your city and you've found you can't purchase that expansion or add a new business until you increase your population? It happens to everyone - all the time! Well, the way we see it, there are two major challenges in City Ville:
  • How to keep a proper balance of housing, businesses and community buildings in your city
  • How to keep that balance without running out of energy
The challenges go round and round in a vicious circle. If you need to increase your City Ville population, then you're going to need more housing. But, before you can add more housing, you have to add more Community Buildings or Businesses. But before you can do that, you need to expand your city so you'll have enough space. But you can't expand your city until you increase your population! And, on top of everything else - Who has enough Energy to do all that building and populating?!
It's a vicious circle, that's for sure. But we have a solution to the problem!
Concentrate on collecting Rents: We know your first inclination is to expand, expand, and expand. But spend a day or two each week doing nothing but collecting the rents on your housing units. Collect as frequently as your Energy will allow.
As you continually collect rents your population will increase naturally. For example, after you collect the rent from one of your houses, hover your cursor over that house and you'll see two numbers like this: 140/200. The first number, 140, is the actual population attributed to that building and the second number, 200, is the maximum allowed.
As you continue to collect rent from that housing unit that first number will increase, adding to the total population of your city. So, instead of paying coins and using Energy to add more housing, you can just let your population grow naturally.
Depending on the size of your city and the number of times you can collect your rents, you might increase your population fast enough to qualify for that upgrade in just a day or two. And, by allowing your population to grow naturally, you'll have more space available for better businesses and decorations - things you've wanted to add but never had the room for.
Build larger housing units: Once you start increasing your City Ville population naturally, you'll see how easy it is to expand without adding all of those extra houses into your city. And as a side bonus, you'll have a lot more coins to work with.
Now, when you're really ready to add more housing, go for the bigger units that have a higher maximum population and a higher pay-out for rent. This will benefit you and your city in two ways: You'll save a lot of space and space is always at a premium in City Ville. And you'll save a lot of energy because you'll have fewer houses you need to collect rents from.
