Choosing The Right Race in StarCraft 2

If you are a beginner, look no further than the Zerg. The reason? A Zerg player with first rate macro can be effective even with poor micro. This is because the Zerg's strength is their ability to expand quickly by spreading creep, produce gigantic balls of units and not to mention, replacing them as quickly . They have the least expensive production costs of all four races and can produce four units at time. And also, they produce every single unit available from hatchery.

Meanwhile, Protoss are the exact opposite of Zerg. They may be more technologically advanced and has much stronger units with their shields but their units are much, much more expensive and it takes longer to build. They also eat up more supply. This is why it is better to keep away from Protoss as a beginner.

You cannot throw them at your enemy and expect every assault to be successful. In order to succeed with Protoss, you'll need impeccable micromanagement. Protoss units are actually a deadly hazardous race in case you understand how to make use of them wisely. Most beginners however get the wrong idea that Protoss units can basically be rebuilt in a snap like with Zerg, but they don't. They expensive and takes a whole lot of time to build. In case you think your micro can contend with Protoss, then it can be an unbeatable force. However I would avoid Protoss when beginning out, because you won't have the micro to contend with them.

Last but not least is the Terran - the middle of the extremes. Not  as expensive as Protoss, nor as technologically advanced, they however still do have great expertise, and are slightly more expensive than the Zerg. Some people see Terran as a nice race for beginners because it is simple to bottle up with Seige Tanks. However bottling up, as I have mentioned before, doesn't win you games. Terran definitely are the most balanced race of the. It may be best to basically go with the race you like the best or have the most fun with. This race you select is the race that will keep you playing, and may even be the reason you'll play better . keep in mind that with the Zerg race, you'll be better off playing a macro game, the Protoss race is better off as a micro game, while Terran is a small little bit of both. It is best to select a race that compliments your personal playing style.
