WoW Professions

Wow professions are an extremely interesting facet of the game. A character does not actually have to pick any professions, but if they do not, they are missing out on great chances to make money in the game and also to bolster their effectiveness at raiding and PvP. Professions are basically classified into two different categories. There are gathering ones, which let you find items in the world. Herbalist and mining both fit this category, and are one of the best ways to make money, especially for lower level characters. In a crafting profession, you can produce items, like jewel crafting, blacksmithing, enchanting, tailoring, or engineering.
When picking Wow professions can pick two main ones, and you have any number of secondary professions. The secondary professions are cooking, fishing, first-aid, and archeology. Many people opt to concentrate on their primary professions first and work on the secondary’s in their spare time. What professions you pick should partially depend on your class. This is because some professions can make armor, and certain types of armor can be only be worn by certain classes. The classes that can wear plate for example are paladins, warriors, and death knights. This makes blacksmithing a good choice for them, as they can wear the armor they can create. If you are a tailor, you can make cloth gear, so this would be ideal for mages, priests, and warlocks.
Ideally, your professions should complement one another. This would include something like alchemy (which lets you make potions and flasks) and herbalist, so that you can gather the ingredients to make these. Of course, you do not have to do this. Sometimes people choose two gathering professions so they can try and unload everything they find at the auction house for a nice profit. What you choose to do should be somewhat dependent on how many characters you have too. Having duplicate professions across characters usually means losing out on some sort of benefit. Having one enchanter or jewel crafter is adequate to outfit all your characters with the buffs they offer.
Choosing the secondary profession archeology gives you the opportunity to find special items that are only available to those who specialize in that profession. The rewards from archeology can range from special armor sets all the way to exclusive mounts for your character!
If you choose a profession, and end up not liking it, you can always change it. You are never forced to keep a profession, although you can have only two primary professions at once. Wow professions are an integral part of the game. You can gather resources from your surroundings to sell or you can use them to make items like armor, weapons potions, enchantments, and gems. Figure out what your goals are in this game, and choose your professions accordingly.
