Rift Void Knight

The Rift Void Knight soul is a proud member of the Rift Warrior soul class & is the primary soul of choice for functions related to anti-magic tanking. Every time you are in an area known to support hostile magic wielding mobs, you are better off with the increased magic resistance of the Void Knight. Currently, it is not advisable to pick the Rift Knight as the soul in any Rift Warrior build because it seems to lack a defined identity that will make it a reliable option in sure situations. However, when paired with established souls such as Paladin & Reaver for tanking purposes, the Void Knight enhances the abilities of the build allowing it to become perhaps the best primary tank in the Rift universe.
The Rift Void Knight can lay claim to a few strengths & a nice number of weaknesses making it the most flawed soul in the Warrior class. Still, this does not prevent the Void Knight from becoming a highly-valued build part. In terms of strength, the Void Knight excels in magic resistance for defense, an excellent skill set for PvP, the ability to suck mana from magic wielding opponents acting as a valuable debuff, & excellent interrupts which can show handy in battle. Balancing these strengths are the weaknesses of the Rift Void Knight most notably its deficiencies in the mitigation department & the constant requirement for build re-adjustment due to inherent weaknesses that need to be patched up depending on the situation.
Outright, the weaknesses of the Rift Knight make it unsuitable as a primary soul but as already mentioned, it pairs well with both Paladin & Reaver to form a world-class tank. The Paladin soul is arguably the best defensive soul on Rift offering lots of options on defense that are hard to resist. The strong affinity of the Paladin for physical defense combined with the magic resistance of the Rift Knight is a sure and for any tank. The addition of the Reaver that provides excellent group buffs & AoE threat generation for more destroy will make this tank a formidable enemy to confront on the Planes of Telara.
In solo play, switch the Reaver soul for a more offensive build such as a Champion or Rift blade. Both these souls are excellent complement to the magic resistance of the Rift Knight while providing offense to level comparatively quickly without any concern. For Group Play, it is a must to pair the Void Knight with the Paladin for obvious reasons. What the Void Knight excels in magic resistance, it compensates with a profound weakness for melee assaults. You can survive longer against magic-wielding opponents but would suffer in blows against melee mobs.
Players must only use the Rift Knight in builds in the event that they understand the weaknesses & have a plan to offset it, otherwise it is not recommended to go for this build. In all cases, do not use the Void Knight as a main soul; pair it with more established identities for a better chance at cracking it on the Planes of Telara.
